iTero® Digital Impression System

iTeroNo more goop, gagging, or discomfort. Using an iTero® scanner we can take a highly accurate digital impression. The new technology completely eliminates the tray and putty impressions where the experience is comparable to stuffing an oversized wad of silly putty in your mouth. The old technique is incredibly unpleasant and frequently results in taking multiple rounds of impressions that can be rejected, broken, or misplaced. The iTero® scanner ensures a more accurate impression from the start, resulting in improved treatment and a more comfortable patient experience. Plus, digital impressions give you the ability to see your teeth instantly in 3D, improving communication during the consultation and treatment process.

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign StepsInvisalign® uses a series of nearly invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners. So, you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Invisalign® is made with 3-D computer imaging technology and has been proven effective. More than 70% of orthodontists in the US and Canada are certified to treat with Invisalign, however, Dr. Bird is only one of few orthodontists who has the state-of-the-art iTero® scanner for gaggles, impression less Invisalign®!

Why would I want Invisalign®?

iTeroNot only are the aligners nearly invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. And no metal and wires usually means you spend less time in our office getting adjustments. Invisalign® also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete

How does Invisalign® work?

You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position Dr. Bird has prescribed. You will visit Dr. Bird about once every 12 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 6-24 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.
